ART REQUIREMENTS (FLATSTOCK)
Accepted file formats include .AI, .EPS, .PSD, .PDF saved at final output size. Please send a color separated file with each color on it's own layer labeled with the chosen solid uncoated Pantone swatch and in the intended print order.
For Vector files, please convert all strokes and fonts to outlines. Run traps 1.5-2 pt. on center. If select areas of the art do not allow for 1.5 pt, trap as much as possible while splitting the difference of areas in question. For under-printing please choke art by .5 pt on center. As a general rule, please avoid clipping masks and use pathfinder tool for knockouts instead.
For raster files, please output at a minimum of 300 dpi although 600 dpi is recommended. Run traps 4-6 px at 300 dpi and 9-12 px at 600 dpi. If select areas of the art do not allow for a 4 or 9 px trap respectively, trap as much as possible while splitting the difference of areas in question. For under-printing, please choke art by 2 px at 300 dpi or 4 px at 600 dpi. Please keep in mind that all spot color artwork must be completely solid (no transparency, filters or effects please). If areas are not completely solid, either a 50% threshold or a high LPI bitmap halftone will be applied at our discretion.
If printing full bleed, bleed art 1/8th past trim marks. No more, no less please.
When using tonal artwork such as gradients or photographic elements, we find it best to output halftones or diffusion dithers on our end to best match our processes. However, if the designer or artist is comfortable setting up files for the printing process, we prefer a 45 LPI at 22.5 ellipse dot.
Include and remaining pertinent specs, i.e. paper color, etc. in email.
Lastly, we understand that setting up an art file may be challenging at times. If you have any questions on how to best set up your project for success, please don't hesitate to get in touch and we would be happy to help. Additional art fees may apply.
